Landscapes in Pastel and Oil

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Have you ever found yourself during the midst of your day, overcome with the calm beauty, and peacefulness of the view or moment? Possibly you’re in the middle of rush hour traffic and you spy a glowing crimson sky in your rearview mirror, or you’re hanging out the clothes, your hands are cold, you’re late to work, but the birds are singing, and the sunlight slants across the grass in front of you and causes you to pause and reflect. I have found that life can go from calm to chaos in a minute, and these peaceful moments are quickly forgotten, these moods, these moments, are some of what I strive to capture when I paint. "Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you peace." Matt. 11:28

I am a native New Mexican resident and have been painting seriously for 5 years, although I have had a desire for art and creative endeavors even as a young child. I am primarily self-taught, although I have participated in various classes and workshops throughout the years. I paint in pastels and oils, with pastels being my current favorite medium. I love the vibrancy, freedom and spontaneity pastels allow.
